I've heard good things about Fallout 3 and not so great things about GTA IV, but the only specific scenario mentioned that I've actually experienced is the Halflife ending in the previous comments (which, in and of itself was great).

The fact is, I find it off-putting at best and offensive at worst that my morality might be judged by a game, or a developer by extension in any sense other than laughably arbitrary and strictly for entertainment. If loads of philosophers haven't managed to pin down a really universally accepted idea of good and moral, then how exactly have the programmers?

I appreciate Manuel's: "If moral choices boil down to decisions that simply reward you in different ways, they cease to become moral choices at all." One might argue that the most moral choices are those that penalize you for doing the right thing. This seems to happen all too often in my world. I mean, that I've noticed between shooting people to reach my goals.

Nice article. It reminded me of the ending sequence of 1998's Half Life.

Accept G-Man's offer, or tell him to jog on..... Still gives me chills!

God I loved that game!
