[tweetmeme] Gamescom saw the unveiling of the first playable race in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online, and unsurprisingly it was mankind. Ranging from the gunline of the Imperial Guard, through to Techpriests and, GamesWorkshop’s favourite cash cow, the Space Marines.
Still exciting is the huge inclusion of the giant Titan warmachines, and even the sight of a series of bikes. Do they replace the idea of mounts at a certain stage? Intriguing.
At this stage, still possibly two years or more from release, it’s hard to tell what is gameplay and what is scripted, but there are signs of melee combat, heavy weapons squads and psychic attacks being dished out against the likes of Nurgle champions and Chaos dreadnaughts. We await the next race with interest.
